1 Week until VMworld 2018 Barcelona!

29th October 2018 VMworld 0

With just one week to go until VMworld, I thought I’d share with you some of the cool things that you can expect.  VMworld Europe 2018 will be on November 5th-8th in Barcelona. To my knowledge this is the first time we’ve had the European event in November, with it usually being held in September or mid October.

The venue remains the same – Fira Gran Via, which is huge.  The address, hotel info and schedule builder etc can all be found here https://www.vmworld.com/en/europe/index.html.

This is my first VMworld as VMware Staff so I will be tweeting more about VMworld while I’m there.  Be sure to follow us on twitter @justthecloud

Exclusive Content and Sessions for TAM Customers

If you are a TAM customer, you get exclusive access to TAM Central on Monday.  Say ‘Hola’, I’ll be working there all week, with Leon making an appearance when he’s not working at Hands on Labs 🙂

  • TAM Customer Central:  Interactive Deep-Dive meetings with VMware SME’s, Product Managers and technology leaders presenting on popular topics and NDA Roadmaps etc.
  • TAM Customer Central Lounge: A TAM Customer Only Lounge placed conveniently at the venue entrance of Fira Barcelona, to the left of the registration Deck.
  • Hands On Lab VIP Tours for TAM Customers: Participate in one of our guided tours of the Hands-On Labs area and hear the story about the architecture and the tech behind it.
  • “Coffee with an SME”: Daily informal discussions with our SME’s and specialist.

Hear from Industry experts

At any VMworld event, you’re going to hear from inspiring people who are leaders in their field. From Keynotes with VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger, COO Sanjay Poonen, EVP & CTO Ray O’Farrell, SVP & CMO Robin Matlock, SVP & GM Jean-Pierre Brulard and many others including CEO’s from house hold names.  You will hear about their successes and lessons learned from implementing VMware Technologies.

On Day 2 you we have Martha Lane Fox who will be sharing her perspectives on innovation, education and the development of responsible technology.  Martha was made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the Queen of England, so definitely a session you should not miss.

Free Training!

In addition to the talks and sessions that will teach you more about the technologies you know, you can also book sessions with “Meet the Experts”, and try exclusive Hands on Labs.  There’s also many VMware employees that you can speak to, and a 25% discount on official VMware training.

Exam Discounts!

Exams at VMworld are half price, so if you’ve got a VCP or VCAP to renew, this is the place to take them, plus it’s a very cool place to walk around having just passed your exam. Usually I walk around an industrial park in Manchester when I pass mine!

Free Stuff!

There’s always tons of swag on offer at any VMworld event, including t-shirts, backpacks, notebooks, stickers, water bottles etc so make sure you bring a suitcase big enough 🙂

Parties!

If you’re going to study hard, I think it’s only right that you also play hard.  Every night there is a party to go to.  You’ve got things like the vRockstar party, third party events with Veeam, Cohesity and many others, the vExpert Party on Tuesday night (Leon and I will likely be there), a VMware reception on La Rambla (I’ll fit this in too), all building up to the VMworld Fest on Wednesday night with The Kooks confirmed to be playing!  Just remember to pace yourself or you’ll be burned out by the end of the week.  I’ve heard 25k steps in a day is not uncommon! 🙂

Any questions, drop a comment below.  We would love to see you there!  If you can’t make it, well we’ve got you covered.  Watch the general sessions live online by going here https://www.vmworld.com/en/europe/learning/general-sessions.html
